Fleurie Georges Duboeuf

The most favored of all the Beaujolais Cru, Fleurie enjoys a very floral bouquet with a refined, smooth taste. An elegant, beautifully made more-ish red with wild strawberry fruit and a fleshy texture.Buy this wine if you like: Light-bodied red with ripe fruit, perfect slightly chilled on a warm summer afternoon.

Description

It'll fill you up and last a while. Even though it's easy to make and pretty cheap it's got a peasanty French chic to it so ppl will think you know your food & have good taste.

Method

  1. 1

    1. You need to make sure all the beans are ready. This will probably involve soaking them for 24 hours overnight if they are dry. Do this. Remember they expand slightly in water.

    2. Take the soaked beans and put them and the water they soaked in into a large pot or saucepan and fill to the top with fresh boiling water and heat for 40 minutes (add a vegitable stock cube, some salt and olive oil to the water- taste the water occasionally to check it isn't disgustingly over or under salty)

    3. After 40 minutes eat a bean and check they are soft (don't burn yourself)

    4. Now get a hand blender (if you don't have one I suppose you could use a mash potatoe masher of some sort) and blend/mash the beans all up. Surprisingly this shouldn't make the water as thick as you'd think it might. MASH 'EM ALL UP WELL.

    5. Add a can of chopped tomatoes, and throw in lots of dried basil and any other herbs you like. The trick here is to KEEP TASTING.

    6. Add some garlic salt, season salts or whatever else is lying around.

    7. Heat up again and stir to get the thickness you require. (if it tastes overpowering add more boiling water)
