Bolognese:-
Put a dash of olive oil in a large frying pan and add the chopped onion and cook on a low heat untill translucent
Add the mushrooms
Add the garlic
Push the mixture to the side of the pan and add the mince beef and fry moving the mince about so its nice and fine and not clumpy and no pink remains.
Carefully drain some of the fat off
Push mixture to the side again and add the puree and fry for 1 minute then combine with the mixture.
Add the oregano and basil and stir in.
Add the tin of tomatoes and the bay leaves and the worcester sauce. simmer for 15 mins. 5 mins before the end of cooking add the cream.
Remove bay leaves
Bechemel:-
Stud the half onion with the cloves sticking them through the bay leaves to keep them in place.
Drop them in the milk in a sauce pan and heat but remove from heat just before it simmers. Leave to stand for a few mins to let the onion infuse. Then remove it and discard.
Melt butter in a seperate pan and add flour and mix into a paste, Remove from the heat and whisk in milk. Return to the heat and whisk untill thickened. Season with salt pepper and nutmeg.
Lasagne construction:-
Lay some lasagne sheets in the bottom of a deep baking tray or oven dish. Spoon a layer of mince over the top. Then drizzle with some of the bechemel and sprinkle with grated parmesan. repeat this step untill you use all of the mince and bechemel. Finish the top with mince bechemel and a generous amount of parmesan.
Cook in the oven according to the packet instructions for the lasagne sheets. Usually about 45 mins. Sometimes the lasagne sheets need blanching 1st. Serve with garlic ciabatta bread!
Chef's Tips
You can do a veggie version. Pic ur own veggies and blanch them 1st and add instead of minced beef. Carrot, turnip, onion, leeks, celery and peas go down great. You can even add a tin of baked beans if you like!
Used this recipe for friends when away in Czech Republic. fabulous recipe. Used fresh tomatoes with passata instead of tinned. Easy to make but looks great!

I loved this lasgne discussion. We've set up a thread on the new MyDish forum. ;o)
Oh and also...about having no fresh tomatos in...go say the same to Gordon ramsey because he dont use fresh either!
Well like it says in the story of my recipe i have adapted the recipe over the years to suit my family. Personally i hate wine in food...cant stand it. Also cant stand celery so i leave that out too! As for mushrooms...you can add as many as you like...i prefere not too many. And Bechemel...well its infused with cloves, onion and bay...its the way i like it...well it is my recipe after all! You coulkd add cheese...but dont that make it cheese sauce and not bechemel? My opinion is if you dont like the sound of my lasagne dont make it...simple as that luv!
OK I made this for my family - 3 young boys who loved it!!! Maybe a different version would work well but not for my kids - happy to try an alternative for me!!!
Lasagne face off! Ace!
Lolly,
Get your recipe on here then.
If it's good let us all try it!!
Hate to be a moaner...but...what's so special about this? No wine in it - no fresh tomatoes, meager amount of mushrooms, no celery, not enough seasoning, the bechemal sauce is bland too...so no thanks I'll stick to my own!
OK seeing as I laid down the I will have a go this week and let you know what I think!!!
This has got to be my favourite recipe. My finace loves it and so do my friends when they come over for dinner. I always to a nice big one so we can freeze a little too and have a later date with some salad and a piece of garlic bread x
This looks like a brilliant recipe. Let's see what Carol reckons... seing as she laid down the challenge. ;o)
