Minerally, unoaked with lemon and apple fruit character, delicate and well balanced. Founded in 1859 this label has become the reliable stamp of quality and consistency. The Maconnais is located in the Southern part of Burgundy, close to the famous Cote d'Or a region ideal for growing Chardonnay. Buy this wine if you like: Chardonnay with mineral freshness and delicate friut.

Description

Everyone like a sweet don't they?! Well this one gives you one of your five as well!!

Method

  1. 1

    1. Preheat the oven to 200oC or 180oC/gas 6. In a pan melt the butter and sugar and simmer for 2-3 minutes until well dissolved and bubbling hot. Pour half this mixture into the base of a 25cm shallow round tin.
    2. Lay six of the bananas down the centre of the tin and the remaining two along each side. Pour over the rest of the butter mixture.
    3. On a floured surface, trim the pastry to form a square. Using a sharp knife, cut out a circle, slightly larger than the tin. Lift the pastry over the bananas like a blanket and lightly tuck the edges in. Cut a 2.5cm slash in the pastry.
    4. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until the pastry is golden and cooked.
    5. Remove from the oven and leave to stand for 3-4 minutes before carefully turning out onto a plate with the bananas facing up.
    6. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve at once with custard or ice cream.

Chef's Tips

My preference is loads of Cornish Ice Cream with this AND clotted cream!!! But that absolutely pushes the calorie boat out! Custard is another option!
