1. Put a layer of blackberries in a large dish that goes in the oven.
2. Cover with a layer of diced apple (after removing the peel and core).
4. Sprinkle on a little brown sugar.
5. Mix the flour, butter, sugar and oats until combined to a crumb-like texture.
6. Spoon the topping mixture over the fruit
7. Bake (180C) until top goes toasty brown
Tried this dish in the autumn and have since made it several times using oatmeal instead of oats. So tasty!
I've been making this as one of my family's favourite recipes for years!!!! But I use all sorts of available fruit...
Their favourite is blueberries and apple.
Sometime I caramelise the fruit first...try it with caramelised nectarines .. I'll put that recipe on the site.
